Summary:
Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) may be diagnosed when the symptoms of a concussion are prolonged for more than six weeks. 85% of people who suffer from a concussion will be asymptomatic within two weeks and fully functioning within four. Recovery from PCS, however, can last months to years. In my mind, there are three qualities of Post-Concussion Syndrome that make recovery particularly difficult when compared to other injuries: an unpredictable recovery timeline, the frequent invisibility of injury, and the complexity of our brains.. In order to properly treat Post-Concussion Syndrome, we must consider the biological, psychological, and social impacts concussions often have on individuals.

2. Tools for clinicians who are working with someone suffering from a long-term concussion
3. Community resources

About Cait:

Cait graduated from the University of Denver’s Social Work program in the Fall of 2023 and is currently a psychotherapist at iSeek Counseling and Colorado Brain Injury Therapy. Five years ago, Cait founded her organization Concussed. to support those who are struggling with Persistent Concussion Symptoms. Who Can Attend this Event?
This event is free for active CSCSW. Non-members may attend for $45. Current social work students may attend for free after submitting proof of student status (copy of valid student id, current course schedule from registrar, etc).
