Summary:

Janet will provide an overview of treating trauma using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy and her experience over many years providing EMDR training to Palestinian clinicians in Palestine. Janet will provide insights on working across cultures through case vignettes and an interview with a Palestinian colleague who was instrumental in the success of the training project. 2 CEUs.

  • Share how clinicians undergoing political violence treat ongoing traumatic stress
  • Offer insights for providing clinical trainings across cultures
About Janet:
Janet Wright, LCSW, has a broad range of experience, including community mental health agencies, school settings, child welfare settings, substance abuse inpatient facilities and private practice. Working in Fort Collins, Colorado, she specializes in treating trauma using EMDR therapy and is an EMDR Trainer with the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program and the EMDR Institute. In addition to her private practice, she provides EMDR training and consultation for clinicians working with under-served populations in the U.S. and internationally, especially in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.

Who Can Attend this Event?
This event is free for active CSCSW and NASW-CO members. Non-members may attend for $30. Current social work students may attend for free after submitting proof of student status (copy of valid student id, current course schedule from registrar, etc).
