"Doing It Right: Sex Therapy for Novices" with Renée Rivera, LCSW


Summary:
Sex Therapy - Doing It Right This is an introductory overview of sex therapy for clinicians who are not certified in sex therapy. We will discuss what sex therapy is and is not, guidelines on when to refer to a specialist, and certification vs licensure. We will also present the PLISSIT model and clinical cases and interventions utilized. There will be opportunity for questions & answers, and hopefully some lively discussion.

Learning Objectives:
Introductory understanding of the PLISSIT model. Basic understanding of what sex therapy is and what it does. Knowledge of when to refer to a sex therapy specialist.

About the Renée:

Renée Rivera is a relationship counselor and sex therapist with 30+ years of experience in the mental health field. For nearly 10 years Renee was the Executive Director at the NASW Colorado Chapter. From 2005 to 2007, she spent two years in Vietnam training in social work skills. Previously, Renee had extensive clinical experience working with adolescents and their families in a variety of settings, including juvenile justice, mental health, residential, home-based, and community programs. Renée has a BA in Latin American Studies from The George Washington University and a Master’s in Social Work from the Catholic University of America.

This event is presented in partnership with NASW-CO. Spaces are limited for this Salon and registration will be limited to active CSCSW and NASW Members. Your membership must be also be active at the time of the event.

This Salon will be held virtually using GoToMeeting. To facilitate an effective discussion, registrations will be capped for the event. If registration is full, you may join the waitlist. Attendees will receive an email the week of the Salon with more instructions for how to join the meeting.
