About this event

PPW: Insurance Credentialing for Behavioral Health Practitioners
Presentation by Kush Desai, LCSW

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 - 7:00 to 8:30 PM MT

Summary:

This training provides a practical, systems-based overview of insurance credentialing and billing for mental health practices. Designed for practice owners, clinicians, and administrators, the course breaks down credentialing, enrollment, and the billing lifecycle, highlights common errors that lead to delays or denials, and offers clear strategies for navigating payer requirements with confidence. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of how to build compliant, sustainable billing and credentialing processes that support both access to care and practice viability. 1.5 CEUs

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the key steps and required components of mental health credentialing and billing processes, including common pitfalls that contribute to denials and delays.
  • Explain the rationale behind payer rules, documentation requirements, and compliance expectations in order to make more informed clinical and administrative decisions.
  • Apply best practices for credentialing setup and billing workflows that support ethical practice, regulatory alignment, and long-term practice sustainability.

About Kush:
Kush Desai, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and clinical consultant with experience spanning outpatient therapy, hospital-based outpatient mental health care, integrated care, and healthcare systems operations. He has served as a clinical supervisor within a large health system and has worked directly with individual clinicians and group practices on credentialing remediation, payer enrollment, billing workflows, and documentation compliance.

Kush also brings systems-level and regulatory experience, including work aligned with Medicaid and commercial payer requirements and prior experience working with a Regional Accountable Entity (RAE). His approach emphasizes clarity, transparency, and helping clinicians understand how clinical practice interfaces with healthcare systems, compliance expectations, and financial sustainability.
