Summary:

With the decriminalization, legalization and continued research producing positive outcomes, psychedelics are likely to become more common and acceptable as a way to support and treat mental health struggles.

Harm reduction has become the gold standard for approaching psychedelics within the field of mental health. In this presentation clinicians will receive a basic understanding of what these medicines are, how they act and how to approach clients with curiosity, support and confidence.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn the basics of common psychedelics, including their effects, benefits, and risks.
• Understand the Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration Model (PHRI) to support client empowerment and safety.
• Support clinicians in providing information to clients regarding the current status and available opportunities related to psychedelics and natural medicine in Colorado.
  

About the Speaker:
John is a Somatic Psychotherapist with expertise in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT). With twenty years of experience in the wellness field, he provides support and education to individuals, couples, and groups, emphasizing the transformative benefits of somatic therapy. Drawing on more than thirty years of personal experience with psychedelics, John integrates his knowledge of both fields to guide clients from areas of difficulty toward greater freedom and authenticity in their lives.

Who Can Attend this Event?
This event is free for active CSCSW members. Non-members may attend for $45. Current social work students may attend for free after submitting proof of student status (copy of valid student id, current course schedule from registrar, etc). CEU certificates will not be issued those who register as a student.
